1. Makiba no Yakata Restaurant "Makiba no Mori FOOD & SHOP" (Misaki Town)

Makiba no Yakata is an experiential facility surrounded by nature in Misaki Town. The restaurant on the premises, Makiba no Mori FOOD & SHOP, offers a menu focused on locally produced ingredients. The highlight is the meat! You can enjoy Okayama Prefecture wagyu beef and pork in dishes such as steak, katsu curry, carbonara, bolognese, and pizza.

One of the signature dishes is Okayama Wagyu Ribeye Steak (2,200 yen for 100g / 3,300 yen for 150g / 4,400 yen for 200g). This premium cut of beef, on a par with sirloin, can be enjoyed simply and luxuriously in a steak. It is served rare, so the best part is being able to heat it on a hot lava plate and enjoy it cooked to your liking. The rice is Kinumusume rice from Misaki Town , the salad is made with fresh local vegetables, and it also comes with Makiba no Mori yogurt, made from fresh milk from the Okayama Prefecture Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Center Livestock Research Institute, which is located next door. *The steak in the photo is 150g

Look at this beautiful marbling!!! Okayama Wagyu beef, procured in large chunks, is the highest quality A5 rank. The thickly cut meat is so tender it melts in your mouth. Grilling brings out the sweetness of the fat, and the juicy flavor fills your mouth.

Also noteworthy is the pizza made with Okayama peach pork bacon. Supervised by "pizzeria CONO FORESTA," a popular restaurant in Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, the chewy and satisfying dough baked in a wood-fired oven is also delicious and impressive. The photo shows the "Makiba no Mori Margherita Set" (1,540 yen). There is also the " Okayama Momotaro Set" (1,980 yen), a pizza with BBQ sauce made with Okayama peach pork bacon, Okayama Prefecture yellow chives, and a soft-boiled egg. *The pizza comes with a salad appetizer and Makiba no Mori yogurt.

The shop sells processed products such as Okayama Peach Pork bacon and sausages. The bacon is a limited edition product that appears in the store on an irregular basis. The sausages come in three varieties: coarsely ground, silken ground, and herb, and are perfect as souvenirs.

The restaurant will undergo a complete makeover in the spring of 2023. Guests can enjoy meals and cafes in a natural, high-ceilinged space.

When the weather is nice, we recommend the terrace overlooking the garden. There is also the "Premium BBQ Set" (4,180 yen per person, minimum order for two people) which includes both Okayama Wagyu beef and Okayama Peach Pork, as well as a set (1,320 yen) that includes homemade sausages and bacon, so you can enjoy Okayama Prefecture meat to your heart's content while feeling the nature.

2. Pasta Restaurant Antrois (Okayama City)

Holland Street runs parallel to the Omotemachi shopping arcade in the center of Okayama City. Located in one corner of the street is Pasta Shokudo Antrois, a restaurant renovated from an old Japanese house, full of atmosphere. It's hard to believe it's in the heart of a busy downtown area, but in this secluded space, you can enjoy over 20 types of pasta. The "Grilled Eggplant and Bacon Tomato Pasta" (980 yen), which has been available since the restaurant opened, is a popular menu item for people of all ages, with its addictive, gentle flavor of homemade tomato sauce made with aromatic vegetables and spices.

The pasta noodles are flat linguine, which pairs well with tomato and cream sauces. It's packed with ingredients and is more filling than it looks, but the noodles and toppings, infused with the delicious flavor of the sauce, are complemented by the mellowness of the cheese, making it so delicious you'll find yourself eating it all in no time. The eggplant is cut into large chunks, giving it a soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. It still holds its shape and retains just the right amount of texture.

The star of the "Grilled Eggplant and Bacon Tomato Pasta" is the senryo eggplant from Okayama Prefecture. It pairs perfectly with the tomato sauce. Fresh eggplants are used, half a large one or a whole one if they're small, and cooked slowly and carefully to preserve their freshness. "I didn't know eggplants could be this juicy!" you'll be surprised. The restaurant strives to use ingredients from the prefecture as much as possible, and in winter they will be introducing a menu featuring oysters from Oku Town. The limited-edition pasta made with seasonal ingredients such as canola flower is also popular. In addition to the diverse main menu of oil-based, cream-based, and tomato-based dishes, the seasonal flavors using local ingredients are also worth checking out, making your visit a pleasure.

The interior of the restaurant still retains traces of its days as a private home, with pillars and ceilings still visible. The first floor has seating overlooking the kitchen, and at the Oku there are spaciously spaced table seats. Strollers are also welcome inside.

The second floor has sofa seats. The light streaming in through the windows and retro lighting create a comfortable space. Large dried smoke tree flowers hang from the ceiling, where you can see the beams and underside of the roof, and stylish objects hang from the walls. This is a space that looks great from every angle, and you can enjoy delicious pasta in a wonderful atmosphere.
