Mairai temple

A temple of the Soto sect. In order to restore this temple, which had been abandoned, the current chief priest, Masamichi Iwagaki, took up a hobby of pasting prints on the sliding doors, and now has about 300 pieces, including paintings on the sliding doors, ceiling paintings, and hanging scrolls. It has become famous as the ``Print Temple'' because of its exhibitions. He has attracted attention from all over the world, holding solo exhibitions not only in Japan but also in London, New York, and Peru.
