Hirokane Residence

This is the residence of Mr. Hirokane, the headman of Onoro, who amassed great wealth by operating the Koizumi Copper Mine and manufacturing Roha (iron sulfate) during the Kyōwa and Bunka eras (around 1800). The tower gate was built in the late Edo period, and the stone walls, which are as imposing as those of a castle, still stand today and are a tribute to the wealthy people of the time.
