Atomic Bomb Dome (Hiroshima)
Hiroshima Prefecture
Featured in the “Michelin Green Guide Japan;” Experience historical artifacts conveying the horrors of the atomic bomb
This memorial, registered as a World Heritage Site, stands as a historical witness to tell of the horrors caused by the atomic bomb. Because of the burnt dome-shaped top and shape of the steel frame, the building has come to be known as the Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome). It has become a symbol for the desire to abolish nuclear weapons now and in the future and for the importance of lasting peace in the world.
