Wamoji-yaki & Fireworks

Japan, Taharashimo, Wake-cho, Wake-gun, Okayama Prefecture 709-0464

Around the same time as the famous Daimonji-yaki festival in Kyoto, the Wamoji festival takes place at Yoshii River Park. The festival features a large, 75 m by 65 m “Wa,” the Japanese character for “harmony” and “Japanese,” appearing in flames on a mountain side. After the character appears, thousands of fireworks decorate the sky.
