The largest of Kasaoka Islands, it has flourished through the production of Kitagi stones.
Kitagi Island has been known as Stone Island for more than 400 years. The high-quality stones quarried here have been used in structures such as Osaka Castle and Tokyo Station. In summer, visitors can enjoy camping and swimming. A few old Japanese style accommodations are available. Kasaoka ramen noodles are popular.
